IMPACT OF COVID 19 LOCK DOWN PERIOD ON COMMUNITY

Ward 8 has a total population of 9120, 52,3pecent of these are women,

Total number of households in ward is 2166, 31pecent of these are female headed,

About 1600 families rely on farming for a living.

800 families rely on market gardening selling their produce to markets in Harare and Marondera.

Since the lock down, early this year these families have been left in abject poverty because vegetables and fruits worth thousands of dollars have been thrown away.

Around 450 families rely on road side vending along Nyamapanda road. These also have been adversely affected by the lockdown.

Families have been left with no food and children engaging in sex work has been on the increase.
